This tour is designed with the highly motivated birder in mind. This tour is strictly limited to twelve (12) participants to ensure a quality birding experience for each person.

We have selected early July to coincide with a brief respite in the rainy season and to maximize our opportunities to see Costa Rican birds. The tour involves a moderate amount of physical exertion. Participants should be able to meet the basic tour schedule and should be able to complete walks for periods of up to three hours. We will climb hills and walk on uneven terrain. We'll sometimes have a pre-breakfast walk, or depart in early morning to reach prime birding areas during the peak of bird activity. After the tour, each participant will receive a trip log that includes a map, daily account, bird list, and participant list.

Accommodations are in comfortable lodges and hotels. We will travel in an air-conditioned van. Most meals are at the lodges, but we'll sometimes stop at roadside cafes en route from one site to another. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE TOUR.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 504-835-3882 or email me at . By sending information via e-mail, I am able to save printing and mailing costs, a savings I pass on to the participants.

TOUR FEES INCLUDE: all lodging during the tour, all ground transportation, meals as specified, entrance fees for parks and other natural areas, and the services of the bilingual naturalist guide.

TOUR FEES DO NOT INCLUDE: Round trip airfare, Costa Rican departure tax, excess baggage charges, telephone calls, alcoholic beverages, laundry, gratuities, and other items of a personal nature.

AIRFARE: Please wait until I confirm that the minimum participation [6] has been reached before purchasing airfare. Look for a flight that will arrive in San José early in the day and a return flight that departs in the afternoon. This will provide the maximum birding time in Costa Rica. Once your flight is booked, please inform me of all the particulars so that I can arrange your transportation between the airport and the Bougainvillea Hotel and from the Villa Lapas and the airport.
