Costa Rica! Costa Rica!! Costa Rica!!!
July 1-12, 2005
Plans for HummerQuest 2005 have been finalized. You can look forward
to seeing hordes of brilliant tanagers, exotic trogons, raucous parrots,
and glittering hummingbirds galore! You've watched plenty of nature
shows, but now it's time to put down the remote control and join
us for a real life adventure. In addition to multitudinous birds,
you can expect to see quite a few interesting mammals, shimmering
insects, curious reptiles, and a host of exotic-looking plants. We
have chosen early July to take advantage of the veranillo de
San Juan , a slight pause in the rainy season when Costa Rican
birds are in their finest plumage and are raising their young.
Our guide, José “Indio” Calvo, has planned an exciting 12 day
/ 11 night birding adventure that includes a variety of elevations
and habitats. Indio is knowledgeable about many natural history subjects.
Some of the places on our itinerary are new to me, so we will certainly
have an opportunity to discover some new birds together. We are sure
to have a great time!
